  • Group Director of Strategic Finance
    £Competitive

    As transformation will take shape at multiple levels, we require a leader to drive strategic financial planning and policy to transform the approaches to finance across the States of Jersey.  You’ll help us create the framework for a ‘One Government’ approach to strategic finance, crafting a Medium Term Government Plan which encourages a culture of innovation and productivity and links spend across services and departments to Island outcomes and the States’ strategic priorities. You will also drive opportunities for improved, collaborative services that will deliver better outcomes and services for islanders, businesses and visitors. With your expertise, we can bring a greater focus to the long term financial sustainability of the States, deliver a robust plan for the future, ensuring there is a coherent, innovative, integrated and deliverable strategy for making investments. At the top of your agenda, you will help put finance at the heart of decision-making and drive continuous improvement and inspire teams to deliver high financial standards across the States Treasury, Exchequer function and broader Government departments.

    You will be experienced at establishing new services, creating a high performance culture, and setting up and maintaining complex financial management, resource planning systems, modelling and cost analysis. As an experienced professional who has led strategic, organisational change, you’ll be adept at managing relationships with internal leaders, senior stakeholders and external regulators. Experience in a public sector environment would be desirable.  The Group Director of Strategic Finance will create the climate to enable staff to thrive, ensuring finance supports the delivery of the vision of a vibrant and growing economy across the States of Jersey, delivering positive outcomes for islanders.

  • Group Director of Performance, Accounting & Reporting
    £Competitive

    As Group Director of Performance, Accounting and Reporting, you’ll be a key leader of the States Treasury and Exchequer function, pioneering change, championing the transformation agenda and re-working the way the finance function currently uses data and financial information to make the right strategic service decisions. This means having overall accountability for transforming the way performance, accounting and reporting is currently delivered, creating best practice across the States and partners to help deliver long term financial stability.

    You will create the conditions for innovation and change so your team are continually reviewing, adapting and using learning and best practice to improve the support they provide to politicians and senior leaders. This will help place finance at the heart of decision making and support a vibrant and growing economy across the States of Jersey, delivering positive outcomes for islanders.

    It will take an exceptional finance professional, with good strategic and operational experience to succeed in this unique role. Having started your career as a qualified Accountant, you will have since gained experience of preparing, managing and monitoring significant revenue and capital budgets in a large and complex organisation, operating in a politically sensitive environment.  Your leadership, change management and influencing skills will be key to creating productive relationships with a myriad of partners and stakeholders.

  • Group Director - Modernisation and Digital

    To create an agile, efficient and effective public service, we need a new approach. So, along with leaders from across our organisation, you’ll shape a vision for a Modern, Digital Government involving local businesses and the island community. We need innovative technologies and new ways of working to create better services, and you’ll be there to make sure everything is designed around our customers. In fact, you’ll direct the Business-led and Digital transformation of a wide range of shared public services, applying a ‘tell us once’ approach. The goal is quicker, simpler engagement through efficient systems, with improved self-service and better customer access. It’s your chance to take a lead role in the programme for reforming public services and the implementation of a crucial operating model for Modernisation and Digital.

    With an understanding of the challenges that such a role involves, you’ll be a credible senior figure who can lead and inspire. You should also be adept at strategic thinking and connecting with diverse stakeholders. Able to hold sway with a range of influential people, you’ll be perfectly at home in a political environment. Meanwhile, you’ll also be used to managing and motivating teams to achieve. With an understanding of policy and governance in your area, you’ll play your part in a momentous move that will benefit a community of 100,000 people.
